Bootsie, thanks for your stories! It's interesting that you find PEI especially haunted. Have you had experiences in other houses you've lived in?

I lived in Summerside Prince Edward Island from the age of 4 to 17. Even before moving my family has stumbled upon creepy homes all over the place. I spent 12 years living at 122 Northumberland Street and even as a child the house creeped me out, you never truly feel completely alone when you're alone in a room, every corner feels dark almost. The first time something happened I think I was about 12 years old, I got out of the shower and wiped steam off the mirror and at the bottom left corner I swore I saw a black face staring at me, I took off pretty fast lol. The two rooms that bothered me most were the master bedroom and the basement, even though I spent a lot of time in these rooms, it was never alone, or at least alone for extended periods, 10 minutes at a time tops.

At around the age of 14 I became very interested in paganism and necromancy rituals. Somewhat of a witch I supposed. My bestfriend and I would sit in my creepy basement and play a lot with our ouija board and we had a whole little shrine set up. After a while we had no problem reaching entities on the board, there's lots of stories about ouija. But the most memorable was when we got something on our board and it kept saying I'm in the corner; this was a dank little corner near our oil tank for the furnace. We wanted to know if it was real or not so we asked it to make something move, and the pentagram that we had hanging from the ceiling began spinning. That was pretty weird. And on another occassion I saw a man sprawled across my little brother's bed staring at me into the hall, that made me scream. He had dark curly hear and blue jeans on, but he was gone as soon as I opened my mouth lol.

My friend lived in a duplex in Slemon Park which is an old renovated area that housed WW2 soldiers, similar to the neighborhoods around uptown Granville street. She heard lots of noises at night, footsteps, I couldn't move my legs one night when I slept at her house, felt like my legs were pinned to the floor.

I'm sure no matter where you go in Prince Edward Island, you're bound to find a ghost or an experience. You can feel it in the air when you arrive, it's a strange place. lol

Hi Amy! Thanks for your post -- very interesting. Yes, I still get comments on the blog and I am still working on the book, just in between work and lots of other things so it's taking a while. I'd love it if you posted more of your stories. And can I contact you for an interview some time over the winter?

I see this thread started in 2007 but if you still receive this then koodos!!

When I was still living with my parents three or four years ago, we were frequently disturbed by happenings in our old farmhouse in North Wiltshire. At first little things started happening, things would be moved out of place when you turned around, lights would go off, footsteps downstairs at night, and sometimes breathing. The worst of it happened when I switched bedrooms before I moved out. In that said bedroom, there was a hatch to the attack and on occasion i would wake up to it bouncing up and down. I ended up repainting the walls at some point, and I would come back to that room or wake up in the morning to find scratches in the paint. In the earlier hours of the morning I would wake up and hear clicking noises travelling back and forth downstairs sometimes breathing as well. On returning home from school one afternoon, the front door was openen, and all the lights were turned on in the home, take not that my step father is a farmer and leaves the house early in the morning, and comes home only late at night. We also live close to an hour from Charlottetown where my mom works, so she is gone early as well. Im usually the last to leave and first to arive everyday. On inspection of the house, there was nothing there. after letting the cat into the house he took one look at me and started to freak out. he ran continuously from one end of the house to the other, trying to hide or escape by jumping out windows ( which were closed ) I had never seen an animal so terrified in my life. Being terrified to really go anywhere I went into our family room and spent the afternoon talking on the phone. After my parents got home, they discontinued the story and we never spoke of it again, but at that night I looked over, and noticed my door way was opened a crack. I looked out into the hallway, and saw the outline of what i think was a little girl. ( it looked as if she was wearing a dress and had pigtails ) her eyes were slightly glowing. She wasn't there for very long. one minute she was there and the next nothing. I had just written it of as exhaustion, but on other occasions late at night, I would wake up to see a mist like image in front of my face.

I've also done research on our community, and have visited two more houses with paranormal rumors. One house used to be a school house my best friend lived in. there have been a few more disturbing experiences. our first one, we were eating lunch and the four of us heard a bell ring. she has an outside door, and an inside door in her entry way... the outside door did not move, but the inside door clicked opening and began swinging open and shut. The floor didn't creak or anything but this continued for about 3-5 minutes before it stood open unmoving. on another occasion, we were in the field behind her house and we saw a dark figure standing in the tall grass. we went to inspect but we found nothing there...

the last occasion we have footage of. we were filming a movie of mine for a school project and in one of the shots there were two lights hovering in the middle of the room, about 5 feet off the ground. It was a horror movie and we had all light off except for a candle that my friend was holding. we had to take 2 or 3 shots of that scene but the "orbs" were only there in the first shot.

the last my friends had experienced in the house on the hill up from my home. the story was that a teacher used to live in there, and had committed suicide there. They had gone to the house late at night, upon going up the drive way, the car engine died. three of my friends got out of the car except for one who was to scared. after walking about 10 feet from the car, the lights of the car flickered the windows went up, the doors locked and the trunk opened. one of them reported seeing a figure " dancing in light " in one of the downstairs windows of the house. my punched the car to the end of the drive way, got in and drove off. on further investigation of this house, another story is that the students lit the house of their teacher on fire, and she died inside. I have never personally visited this house, but driving by it, it is pretty earie.

hope this helps you! If you want I have more expierences Im willing to share! I'm very interested in this myself

The Haunting of Mary: In Hunter River, PEI, in the very early 1800s, there was a little girl named Mary. Mary was a trouble maker and everyone in the village were annoyed by her. She played pranks on everyone and they didn't find it funny at all. Mary's parents were very abusive and embarrassed by Mary's behavior. Her room was in the basement and they had no trouble throwing her in every night and locking the door. But Mary made a secret escape and was able to sneak out from her room and she used to go outside and play more pranks, out of revenge. She wasn't an evil child but just craved attention and love. Being bad was the only way to get herself noticed. One night, Mary played a very very bad prank. she had ruined one of her neighbor's garden and Mary was, of course, severely punished. Her parents beat her before chucking her into the basement and locking the door. Mary cried for hours before silently going through her secret escape and went to the river. Mary's house is located right across the street from where today's Hunter River Bakery is. Mary headed behind today's bakery, where she had her own little rowboat hidden in the reeds. She quietly went out in the river with it and sat in the moonlit sky, doing nothing but row back and forth, crying silently. No one from the village knew that there was a traveler in the village for the night. He was nameless but sick and twisted. He hid in the reeds, watching Mary. When Mary finally rowed back to shore, as she began to pull her rowboat back into the reeds, the man grabbed her and severely drowned her in the river. Mary tried to scream for help but she couldn't manage with a mouthful of river water. Mary drowned and the man left Hunter River, unoticed. They say that Mary still roams Hunter River, screaming for help. On a moon lit night you can see the ripples from her rowboat. I have hear dher screams many times and it is the most chilling sound ever

My husband and I recently spent the night in a Comfort Inn in Summerside ,Just up the road from Hemple Chev dealer where our car was being repaired.Through the night I heard heavy breathing,as if some had exhausted them selves running or some such. My husband, a none believer, also saw in the mirror, unexplained a passing shadow. I wandered if there have been any other sightings on this stretch of land or in the hotel. I'm more couious than anything. The experience realy did leave me a little baffled and unsettled.

PEI Paranormal is a research group (on FaceBook) that studies phenomena on PEI. We go to many sites where reports of unexplained activity has been said to occur. We would be happy to check your place out for you, if you like.
